1. The Work is Thine our Lord and God, the Work which is our joy, and since it's Thine, Lord Sabaoth, no foe can it destroy. Before the wheatcorn can send out to light and life its tender sprout, it in the bosom of the field must first its former nature yield in death must yield, its former natuer yield.
2. Through suff'ring didst Thou ever, Lord, to heaven lift Thine eyes. O, take all those in one accord with Thee to paradise! Lord, come and fetch Thy children here, our share of suff'ring we will bear; through portals of Thy death and pain, we gently through Thy Work attain eternal gain, Thy Work- eternal gain.
3. Thou died for us, O godly seed, transcended death and grave, and would in ample measure feed those whom their souls would save. Send messengers afar and near; let ev'ryone all nations hear Thy name; O Lord, praise be to Thee. Prepared to work and wait are we, to work and for Thee, to work and wait for Thee!
