Families & Parenting

Parents are the greatest influence in the life of their child.

Research proves it time and again, a parent's voice is the loudest in their life. That is a great opportunity for parents to make a forever impact in the life of their child. It is also a great opportunity for us to partner with parents and cheer them on in the process.  We will send encouragement and truth to parents in the form of videos and messages each month via email. It is our great honor to serve families and to cheer parents on as they lead their child spiritually! To subscribe to these monthly emails, scroll to the bottom of this page.

Children's Services

Children’s Services are now recommended to be held twice a year, rather than quarterly as in the past. This change allows for greater flexibility in scheduling and planning within local congregations.

When planning a Children’s Service, it is important to use the special Children’s Service Divine Service Guide provided by the Faith Arc Team. This guide replaces the regular Sunday Divine Service Guide for that day and should be used as the primary resource for the service.  The purpose of a Children’s Service is to:

  • Provide children with a message that is clear, memorable, and meaningful to their lives.
  • Make children feel seen and valued by placing them at the heart of the congregation.
  • Foster connections between generations within the congregation.
  • Reinforce the importance of the divine service while deepening their understanding of Christ and the Bible.

IGNITE Youth Group

The IGNITE Youth Group is for those students in 8th-12th grade. The learning material for the youth group is based on the THRIVE Membership Expectations of the New Apostolic Church USA.

Based on the international mission and vision statements, the youth group’s goals are:

  • In order to better ‘align their lives to the Gospel of Jesus, the youth program will deepen spiritual maturity
  • In order to ‘reach out to all people’, the youth program will expand the missional reach God had given us in our spheres of influence
  • With an amplified focus on soul care, the youth program will build stronger relationships with students and engage parents in the process
  • Confirmation also happens within the student's youth tenure.

Teachers and leaders must be logged in to NDI in order to view the monthly Take 5 archive and the Teacher/Leader online training modules.

THRIVE Curriculum

The THRIVE Youth small group discussions are designed for students in 8th to 12th grade. This is also the material that will prepare an individual to make their Confirmation vow and receive their confirmation blessing in either their 10th or 11th grade year. Because of this preparation, the curriculum is designed as a 3-year curriculum and is divided into 6 semesters that follow the academic rhythm of Fall and Spring semesters. Each semester has 12 discussion guides that are intended to be used weekly as the midweek experience for the youth. However, we know that not all situations and local circumstances are the same, so the exact day of the week and frequency is determined locally.

An overview course has been created to explain the structure of the curriculum and the facilitator guide.

2025 Youth Retreat

"It's Time to Do Good!"
In support of the Chief Apostle’s international theme for 2025, “It’s time to do good!” this year’s youth retreat content is designed around serving and doing good. Various Bible verses are used throughout the content, with the Divine Service Guide being based on Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

The Road to Confirmation

The decision to make the Confirmation vow and to receive the Confirmation blessing is a very important milestone in a youth’s journey of faith. When making this decision, age, maturity level, and understanding of faith, need to be considered. Because of this, there is flexibility as to when a youth can make their Confirmation vow.

In the New Apostolic Church USA, all youth who have regularly attended the Youth THRIVE Small Group discussions are eligible to make their Confirmation vow in the spring of their 10th or 11th grade academic year. The youth leader and/or rector should initiate a conversation with the youth and their parent/guardian, in which the youth verbalizes their intent to pursue Confirmation. This conversation should be planned in advance so all involved, feel prepared to have the discussion. The conversation should take place in the fall of the student’s 10th and/or 11th grade year.
