The Giver of Life
We believe in a triune God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. While the Trinity is beyond our human perception and knowledge, we understand from Scripture, tradition, and doctrine that each Person of the Trinity has some unique characteristics, even though, at the same time They are indivisible and completely unified.
The Nicene Creed states that we believe in “the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life.” We believe the Holy Spirit is the One sent out into the world through the church; an actuating Spirit of movement, vibrancy, dynamism, and vitality. The Spirit is the bringer of life and vigor into the work of the church and the life of the believer. This will be our focus for the month of June - the Holy Spirit, the Giver of Life.
The first sermon will focus on life in discipleship - we are strengthened in our following of Christ when we gather, seek unity, and sanctify ourselves.
The second Sunday is the celebration of Pentecost, which we will experience with our Chief Apostle.
On the third Sunday, we will commemorate Trinity Sunday and the 1,700 year anniversary of the Nicene Creed, which will bring us to an understanding of how the Spirit brings life in the body of Christ.
The fourth sermon will explore the Spirit’s activity in bringing life in truth through the pillar and foundation of the church.
The fifth sermon will examine Isaiah 1 and Psalm 51, revealing how the Spirit brings life in restoration and renewal, especially when we come to God in repentance.
And finally, the midweek sermon will encourage us to be doers, inspired by life in His word.
