Is God responsible?

God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, and so some question if He is responsible for the bad things that happen in the world.

But God continues to exist despite the pollution and sin of man. An example is that He has provided enough food for all people, but the amount of people who go hungry is because of war or distribution issues. Those types of things are what create difficulties, not God.

God has given mankind intelligence and the capability to provide and care for the creation. This was His command to humankind in the Garden of Eden, and it’s our continued responsibility to take care of creation.

The fact that we haven’t really done so well and creation is hurting is also our responsibility. We can’t personally care for the entire world, but we have to try to do the best we can in our own world, i.e. our communities.

In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus explains that the whole creation is cared for. No creature has to worry, it’s all taken care of. However, we should be concerned over our spiritual lives, your life with God. Even in this, God has provided for us. He has given us a way to come to Him through Jesus Christ.

In summary, God is responsible for creation because He created it and He’s done everything for us, but we are responsible too, because we are to care for creation.
