Episode 59 - Faithful to Christ
Being faithful to Christ means much more than attending Services and doing certain things. As the Chief Apostle said, being faithful to Christ is multifaceted; we have to remain loyal and steadfast in Him, we have to be constantly in love with Him. Thus, being faithful to Christ refers to our personal relationship with Jesus Christ directly. Certainly, the church is a necessary vehicle to help us come to that, but each soul has to make their relationship with Christ, and has to remain steadfast in that relationship. We can develop this relationship by:
- Following the example of Jesus. In order to do so, one has to learn more about Jesus Christ. He is true Man and true God, and we can follow what He did and said, even how He prayed; He is the Son of God, and yet He found it necessary to pray and make a constant connection with God. That is one thing we can look at ourselves, “Am I praying in the example of Jesus Christ?”
- Being constant in love. We stay genuine to what we believe in, and by doing that, love flows out; because we love Christ, we love one another, we learn to love one another, even though we see weaknesses and differences between us. John 13:34-35 says, “…love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples...” This means that not only others will know, but He will know too.
- Serving faithfully. We have to ask ourselves, “Am I willing to serve?” It is easier to do it out of responsibility, but we have to question ourselves whether or not we have a genuine desire to serve, because Jesus did, out of His love.
- Keeping our promises. His serving, His love and His example led to His promise; what He did and what He will do. Now, we have to look at what we have promised Him and how we are keeping those promises. For instance, on Confirmation day, we promised to renounce the devil, and to surrender ourselves.
As this year unfolds, we can take a deeper look at ourselves and ask ourselves if we are following the example of Jesus, if we are constant in love, if we are serving faithfully and if we are keeping our promises.
