Episode 50 - The gift of the Holy Spirit
Looking back at the sermon that Peter gave on Pentecost, we know that first we need to be baptized in order to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (i.e. to receive Holy Sealing). Based on the words that he pronounced in that same sermon, the phrasing of Holy Sealing was modified from receiving the Holy Spirit to receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a person of the Trinity of God. He has always been and forever will be a person of the Godhead and active in the will of God wherever He is sent according to God's will.
So, when we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit through Holy Sealing (carried out through the laying on of hands by an apostle and by prayer), we receive the power, the life of God which is thereafter indwelling in us. We want to have that gift because with it, we can know and grow in the will and understanding of God. We must allow Him to fully influence us and cause us to grow in the image and mind of Jesus Christ. Although the gift of the Holy Spirit always exists in its most powerful form, God always respects our free will, so we have to diminish and allow Him the room to expand to His fullness.
