Episode 110 - A Communal Protest

This episode of For Your Journey explores the striking idea that coming to divine service is a form of protest - not a protest of anger or division, but a faithful refusal to adopt the values and patterns of the world. Drawing on thoughts from the Chief Apostle, District Apostle Schnabel highlights how Christians are called to stand against indifference, injustice, and violence, not by mirroring them, but by choosing to be a blessing. Worship is not primarily about what we receive emotionally or personally, but about taking a stand for Christ and His kingdom. In this sense, attending service is an active declaration that Jesus will come again and that His way of love, forgiveness, and holiness matters.

A central takeaway is that indifference is especially dangerous. Scripture shows that God can work even with opposition, but lukewarmness and apathy leave little room for transformation. The District Apostle emphasizes separating the sin from the sinner, refusing to label or dismiss others, and remaining open to both serving and being served. The celebration of Holy Communion reinforces this “protest”: each celebration proclaims Christ’s death and victory until He comes again.

The action items are clear: approach worship intentionally, reject passive faith, examine where indifference may have taken root, and allow the divine service to shape daily life as an active, visible witness for Christ rather than a routine habit.
