Meditations on Lent

Prayer is the strength of every Christian. In the face of so many situations that hurt us and could harden our hearts, we are called to dive into the sea of prayer, which is the sea of God’s boundless love, to taste His tenderness. Lent is a time of prayer; of more intense prayer, more prolonged prayer, more intentional prayer. This devotional guide will lead you through 7 meditations on your journey of Lent; each with a Bible reading, a few contemplative questions, and excerpts of prayers and thoughts from Christians, pastors, and theologians of the past. We hope their words will offer fresh perspective and inspiration for your prayers.

The Light Of Advent

Advent is a holy season of anticipation looking forward to the celebration of Jesus’ birth, and a time of expectant waiting and preparation for His second coming. It is also a journey from darkness to light: The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelled in a land of darkness, upon them a light has shined (Isaiah 9:2). Our Light, and the Light of this world, is Jesus Christ. Join us for five Advent devotionals – The Light of Advent  – during the month of December. As we journey through this month, and through this holy season of Advent, it is our prayer that these devotionals will lead you closer to Christ, and also help strengthen our collective longing for His return. Each video contains a devotional prompt and closing carol sing-a-long fitting to that week's theme.

According to the Scriptures

In the liturgical church calendar, Lent is a season of preparation, observed for forty days before Easter - a period that alludes to the forty days Jesus spent in the wilderness. This season inspires a time of reflection, purification, and repentance in preparation for the celebration of Christ’s suffering and death on Good Friday, and resurrection on Easter. To help enhance our observance of Lent and preparation for the glorious celebration of Easter, this devotional package has been created to provide one devotional guide per week. It includes a guide for the 6 weeks leading up to Holy Week, and one guide for the week immediately following Easter.
