1. A mighty fortress is our God, a trusty shield and weapon. He helps us free in ev'ry need that hath us overtaken. The ancient bitter foe still seeks to work us woe. Deep guile and greatest might are his dread arms in fight; on earth is not his equal.
2. With human might can naught be done- our loss would be effected, but for us fights the Valient One whom god Himself elected. Ask ye who this may be? Christ Jesus it is He, of Sabaoth the Lord, and there's no other God, He holds the field forever.
3. Though devils all the world should fill, all watching to devour us, we tremble not, we fear no ill, they cannot overpow'r us. Though this world's prince may still scowl fiercely as he will, his rage we can endure for lo! his doom is sure; one little word o'erthrows him.
4. God's word forever shall remain in spite of all resistance. His gifts and Spirit us sustain - in battle, our subsistence. Should the then take our life, goods, honour, shild and wife, and when their worst they've, they yet have nothing won; The kingdom our remaineth.
