1. Your word, O Lord, is gentle dew to suff'ring hearts that want it. O shed Your heav'nly balm anew, to all may it be granted. Refreshed by You with heav'nly dew all hearts may then in beauty praise and bear Your fruit in endless days.
2. Your word is like a flaming sword, a sharp and mighty arrow. A wedge that cleaves the rock, that word can pierce through heart and marrow. O send it forth o'er all the earth, the sinful heart to cleanse and win, and shatter all the might of sin.
3. I comfort sought but found it not in earthly joys and pleasure. Your blessed word of grace, O God, gives me eternal treasure. It shows my way, from day to day and keeps my feet from stumbling here while to the goal I'm drawing near.
4. Your word for us a shining star upon our journey guiding; it points to Christ and blest we are within His love abiding. Let heav'nly light e'er give us sight, in ev'ry heart with kindness shine that none may miss the goal divine.
