1. When strikes the hour, Lord, and when shall it be? I long for home, heavenly home! When I, transfigured, eternity see; my heav'nly home, my heav'nly home! Here on the earth is much sorrow and pain, there will my soul ever happiness gain. Oh, how I long for my heavenly home; I long for home, for my home!
2. Only as long as it pleases Thee, Lord, will I remain, will I remain. Sin I shall fight here on earth through Thy word till I attain heavenly gain. Here I may cherish my brethren in Thee, working and striving that worthy I'll be! Till I, transformed, see Thee coming again and then attain heav'nly gain.
3. Here still contented but glorified there is my desire, is my desire. Dwelling with Thee, this is daily my prayer and my desire, yes, my desire. Patient in sorrow, in grief or distress, one day in joy I shall glory possess. There I shall sing in the heavenly choir, this my desire, my desire!
