1. Today we come anew, commit our cares and keeping, Lord, in Thy faithful hands, eternal blessings reaping. Here stands a fortress safe that Satan's host defies. God's children therein find a refuge He supplies.
2. Lord, grant in this new year, new strength to keep us faithful; that trusting we remain, and watching, ever wakeful. Lord, fill both heart and mind with light from Thee on high; Thy Holy Spirit's word let all our needs supply.
3. Grant that we more and more subdue our sinful nature; in body, soul and mind, control our ev'ry feature; and let us be content Thy wisdom, Lord to heed; whatever Thou may send will goodness be indeed.
4. And when the time has come that we're this world departing, prepare us through Thy grace, Thy love to us imparting. Our hearts we give anew; with Thee we shall commune. O hear our daily plea: "Come Thou, O Lord, come soon!"
