1. Striving onward, pressing forward, life divine to gain; I will ever make endeavour till I it attain. What detains, I'll cast aside, by that promise to abide! Who endureth life secureth and the prize shall gain.
2. I am hasting, time not wasting, to the Father's throne, for delaying in obeying can but harm God's own. He who strives but tires today, God can strengthen on the way. Worldly pleasure holds no treasure, I wish naught of this.
3. Jesus guiding all my striving ever to the goal. Should I waver, then, O Saviour, strengthen Thou my soul! When temptations come to me and from scorn and taunt I flee, let then mercy, love uplift me; I'll triumphant be.
4. Thou must help me, for without Thee I'm not strong enough. Where I'm failing, I'll be gaining strength from Thee above. While Thy word brings life to me and Thy Spirit sets me free, Salem's glories rise before me, may I enter in!
