1. Rejoice, O ye mortals, and fear not the night; to you there appeareth a heavenly light! Much brighter it shines than the stars or the sun. O hail ye the coming of God's Holy One.
2. O He, as the richest, became poor and meek; His warm heart in pity the sinner did seek. He came as a servant, God's mercy to bring; forever in heaven His praises shall ring!
3. And then, when the shadows of death from us flee, a bright ray of glorious light we shall see. Then sing will the ransomed whose sins are forgiv'n, and join with the angels forever in heav'n.
