1. In humble guise He's nearing, upon a colt appearing: The King behold with joy! Greet Him with palms and flowers, strewn on His way in showers; let all their songs of praise employ.
2. No hosts He leads, our Saviour; of love speaks His behaviour. O hail the Prince of Peace! Though pow'rs on earth are striving, the way to God depriving, His kingdom ever shall increase.
3. The Lord of truth unending, anew today is sending in humble, lowly guise, the servants who will guide us, with heav'nly peace provide us: The peace that only He supplies.
4. Let now Your light be shining; defeat all dark designing, Lord, through Your deed of grace. Whilst glad hosannas singing, our burnished lamps we're bringing, what joy to meet You face to face!
