Lyrics
1. If God Himself is for me, I shall a host defy. For when I pray, before me my foes confounded fly. If Christ, the Head, befriends me, if God is my support, the mischief they intend me shall quickly come to naught.
2. 'Tis my belief, conviction, and I am not afraid to say that by election God's child I have been made. That in life's joy and sadness He's ever at my side to aid me, oft so helpless, when evil here betides.
3. I build on this foundation that Jesus and His blood alone are my salvation, the true, eternal good. The joy from heaven pleases like nothing here on earth; the gifts I owe to Jesus alone my love are worth.
4. His Holy Spirit dwelleth within my willing heart, to tame when it rebelleth and sooth the keenest smart. He crowns His work with blessing and helpeth me to cry: "My Father!" without ceasing, to Him who reigns on high.
5. My heart is light and joyful; how could I saddened be? For happy and not woeful a child of God should be. The Sun so brightly beaming is my Lord, Jesus Christ; the songs which I am singing tell of His paradise!
