1. Give me a perfect heart, guide all my thoughts and actions, that I do not leave You to follow vain distractions. These cause my heart distress; Lord, let me never stray on paths of wickedness, but walk the narrow way.
2. Give me a perfect heart when evil comes to hound me. May the Holy Ghost then enlighten and surround me, that on this narrow way I seek not worldly praise, but follow Christ always, be with Him all my days.
3. Give me a perfect heart when worldly thoughts are pressing, lust of eye and flesh overcoming through Your blessing. The world with all its lust must some day come to naught; the pure in heart, the just, in heav'n to God are brought.
4. Give me a perfect heart; no evil will alarm me. If You take my part, then the raw winds cannot harm me. Let then Your Spirit's pow'r be strong and firm in me that in that glorious hour in pure white robes I'm free!
