1. Depart, dear child! Our God has called your soul this futile world to leave. Tho' now I grieve, God's love does me console; He will you now receive. No need for further lamentation! God gives the spirit consolation.
2. Depart, dear child! In heaven you will find what here the world denied. Alone with God is peace for all mankind! No pain the soul need hide. Where we on earth are often frightened, in heav'n through God we are enlightened. Depart, dear child! Depart, dear child!
3. Depart, dear child! Soon shall we follow you, whenever God decrees. Go forth to Him whose love is ever true; with Him all sorrows cease. When life is long, then long man's mis'ry, if short, you soon may see His glory!
