See How He Loves Us, by Sovereign Grace Music

Lyrics

King of heav’n, robed in light
Sovereign of all, angels adore Him
Came and set His crown aside
Emptied Himself, leaving His glory
See how He loves us

Son of Man, robed in flesh
Bearing our grief, knowing our weakness
Yet despised in our eyes
Pitied and poor, living among us
See how He loves us

Chorus
Jesus, only Jesus, humble and holy
Lord, we adore You
Jesus, only Jesus, oh, how marvelous
Oh, how wonderful Your love

Lamb of God, crucified
Suffered alone, dying He saved us
Laid within a sinner’s grave
Ever He lives, risen to raise us
See how He loves us

Corresponding Bible Verses for Reflection and Study

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Ephesians 2:4-5
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

1 John 4:9-12
In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Devotional Thought

Take a moment to reflect on 1 John 4:9-12 (see above). God sent His Son into the world to save us from our sins not because of our love for Him, but out of His love for us. And it's His love for us that should inspire not only our love for Him, but also for others (...we also ought to love one another).

Will God's love for you inspire your love for someone else today? How will you extend the love of Jesus Christ to someone in need of it?
