Lyrics
Long awaited precious Promise,
Son of God and Son of Man,
Heaven's Glory in a manger
Has come to us in Bethlehem, oh!
Messiah, Messiah,
Baby born to save us all.
Messiah, Messiah,
On our knees we fall.
All we longed for, all we needed,
Shining in a Child's eyes.
Hope forever, death defeated,
Because of this one holy night.
Messiah, Messiah,
Baby born to save us all.
Messiah, Messiah,
On our knees we fall.
O come, let us adore Him.
O come, let us adore Him.
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord!
Long awaited precious Promise,
Coming back again.
Messiah, Messiah,
Baby born to save us all.
Messiah, Messiah,
On our knees we fall.
Long awaited precious Promise,
Son of God and Son of Man.

Devotional Thought
Messiah comes from the Hebrew word, Mashiach, meaning "the anointed one," or "the chosen one." As the Messiah who had been promised and prophesied for centuries, what was it that Jesus was anointed and chosen for? The people of His time understood the Messiah to be one who would save them from their enemies and from Roman rule. They expected Him to set up a kingdom on earth. Jesus made it very clear, however, that His kingdom was not of this world (John 18:36). Rather, Jesus' kingdom, and the purpose of His birth and condescension, was much higher. As the song makes clear, Christ was "born to save us all." He was anointed to save us--and all of mankind--from our sins.
In this Advent season, take some time to ponder the beautiful truth that the Son of God humbled Himself to the extent that He did, through His birth in a manger and His death on a cross, so that we could be saved from our sins. Truly, He was "heaven's glory in a manger." May we be inspired in this season, and beyond, to fall on our knees in worship and adoration of Him.
Corresponding Bible Verses for Reflection and Study
Luke 2: 4-11
Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, His betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Now there were in the same country shepherds living out int he fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior (Messiah), who is Christ the Lord."
Matthew 1:21
..."And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
