Lyrics
I’m gonna sing ‘till the Spirit moves in my heart
I’m gonna sing ‘till Jesus comes
It was grace that brought me
It was grace that taught me
It was grace that kept me
And it’s grace that will lead me home
I’m gonna pray ‘till the Spirit moves in my heart
I’m gonna pray ‘till Jesus comes
Can’t you feel the Spirit moving?
I’m gonna shout ‘till the Spirit moves in my heart
I’m gonna shout ‘till Jesus comes
I’m gonna sing till my Jesus comes
Devotional Thought
Note that the lyricist is compelled to do three things: sing, pray, and shout. What's behind this? Why does he feel inspired to sing, pray, and shout? There seem to be three answers. The first one? Grace! It was grace that brought me (...safe thus far - this is a reference to Amazing Grace), it was grace that taught me, it was grace that kept me, and it's grace that will lead me home. As a preacher of old once said, "grace is everything, and everything is grace."
The second answer is the movement of the Holy Spirit. The lyricist is determined to sing, pray, and shout "'til the Spirit moves in his heart." The Bible makes it very clear that the Holy Spirit dwells within the believer (see 1 Corinthians 6:19). When was the last time you or I asked the Spirit to move within us, so that His fruits might be extended more freely from us?
The third reason for the lyricist's singing, praying, and shouting is the return of Jesus Christ. Until Christ comes, He is inspired - through the movement of the Spirit - to bring expression to the Lord.
Dear believer - pray today that the abundant grace of God, the powerful movement of the Spirit, and the imminent return of Christ also move you in such a way that you are compelled to sing, pray, and shout to the Lord!
