Devotional Thought
How humbling it is to think that, in spite of our sins, Christ invites us to come unto Him and rest (Matthew 11:28-29). He, the Perfect One, calls we who are imperfect close. Why does He do this? The answer is simple: love. The Father showed His loves for us by giving His only begotten Son (John 3:16), and the Son showed His love for us through His suffering and death on the cross (Romans 5:8).
This song clearly expresses the result of His sacrifice and resurrection: "The power of hell, forever defeated; now it is well, I'm walking in freedom."
Take a moment today to give thanks to Christ for the freedom you have in Him (freedom from sin, and freedom to come close to Him).
